Fast Track Singing Competition – How It Runs

The Fast Track Singing Competition will run in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. Each competition will be run as a separate event and contestants will only compete with people in their age division in their city. Grand Finals for the competition will take place in October 2016 and prizes for all age divisions will be awarded.

Contestants are entitled to enter as a solo singing act and/or as a singing group and may use backing tracks or accompany themselves with a musical instrument (max 2 instruments per act)


6 – 8 Years old
9 –11 Years old
11 –14 Years old
15 –17 Years old
OPEN 18 Years and over

*Please note, each contestant will be placed into a category based on their age of 1st January 2016 and will stay in this category for the whole competition regardless of age change or birthday.


Each performer will be required to prepare one heat song (max 4 minutes). After each contestant has performed their song, the judges will select the winners from each division who will go directly to the Semi-Finals. Trophies and prizes will be awarded at every heat for the Performance of the Day, Most Improved Performer and the Fast Track Favourite

In the Semi-Final section of the competition each performer is required to perform two (2) songs (max 4 minutes each). After each contestant has performed their songs, the judges will select the winners from each division who will go directly to the Grand Final.

Welcome to the prestigious and always exciting Grand Final! In this stage of the competition each singer is required to sing one song (either from the competition rounds or a totally new song) which best shows off their vocals, stage presence and instrument (if applicable). As this is the final round the judges will have the hard task of determining 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best Overall Performance, Best Original Songwriter, Most Improved Performer and Fast Track Favourite.

Fast Track Season 4 will run from April 2016 – October 2016.


Contestants are able:

To use backing tracks (CD or USB only). No iPads or iPods.

  • Please only bring tracks that are mp3, wave or m4a (no video files or backing vocals).
  • To accompany themselves on keyboard, guitar or other instrument.
  • To bring along someone to accompany them on keyboard or guitar. (Maximum 2 instruments per act)


Fast Track provides a positive and constructive performance environment for artists of all ages and experience. Contestants will be judges on the following criteria:

Musicianship: Phrasing, musical interpretation, artistry and vocal support
Originality: Creativity, imaginative performance and original music.
Technical: Vocal technique, control, tone and pitch.
Presentation: Costume (if applicable) and performance energy.
Overall Performance: Overall score out of 100.
